After working on Capitol Hill during the passage of the Affordable Care Act, Tyler Smith entered the healthcare industry with the hopes of making hands on changes to improve patient care.

An expert in EMR optimization and planning, Tyler has worked with clients in the system selection and project planning process, in addition to implementing optimizations of installed systems. Additionally, he has implemented and managed multiple custom development projects mainly around the Epic EMR system related to population health, ophthalmology and general ambulatory care. Tyler has experience in improving physician buy-in with Epic’s unique tools and helping organizations meet government measures, including PQRS, MU and ACO.

Tyler has also written extensively on healthcare information technology and has been featured on the industry leading blog ‘HIStalk’ on numerous occasions, mainly featuring his findings regarding project management best practices and EMR optimization strategies.

Tyler is a Project Management Professional (PMP), member of the Project Management Institute, member of HIMSS, board member of Health 2.0 Atlanta and member of the Junior Leadership Council of the New York Stem Cell Foundation. He is a magna cum laude graduate of Vanderbilt University.
